Alrot's new MD-83: test flight around Bodo

Postby Daube » Thu Nov 11, 2010 11:32 am

Hi all,

Still testing the plane, took some shots :)

Plane on the ground, opened all exits. You get the pilot window, the main door, the tail door, and three luggage doors.

Taxiing to the runway. I absolutely love the way the windows were made. They are like Alrot's CitationX  8-)

Taking off, and gears retraction...

After a short flight around, heading back to land.

Bonus shot: cockpit view during final turn. The FMC is switched ON this time ;)

I'll find out when I test this weekend, but it looks like you have some annunciation lights and warnings active on the overhead panel. Do you not have a system set up correctly?

The messages are referring to some "disc" stuff... like "autopilot disc" or something like that. I tried looking in the cockpit quickly for something that had a similar name but I was too occupied with the flight itself...

Oh, that means "disconnected" as in, "Your autopilot is disconnected (not turned on)"....  ;)

Man... that looks great! Excellent job Alrot, and great shots Daube!

Quick question... will jetway coordinates be mapped to the aircraft?
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Ah! The Jetways... that's something I didn't think about for testing.
However, jetways will work depending on the exit definitions in the aircraft.cfg, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Currently, the main door and the stairs are separate entries, that means that you can open the door without deploying the stairs, so the gate should be able to connect.

The question is: do MD-83 really connect to gates ? Usually only big airplanes do, and the MD-81 entrance is quite low, too...

In my experiences, The MD-80 almost always uses a jetway.  The only two times I've ever boarded using the airstairs were, 1. The jetway wasn't working, 2. there was no jetway to use.

Oh yea, the pretty much always use jetways. Every flight I've been on using an MD-80... boards using the jetways. Heck, nearly all my flights on regional jets such as an ERJ-145 boards with a jetway as well.

Alrot, that is such a sweet looking model.  Do you give lessons in aircraft developement?  Maybe there should be a site - the Alrot bag of techniques and tricks -  or something of that effect.
