Fairey at Bentwaters

Postby patchz » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:43 pm

Just downloaded Robert Richardson's Fairey Gannet AS1, DH103 Hornet F1 & prototype F20 Sea Hornet native FSX from the V. Only have pics of the Fairey right now, but they look and fly great.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

They also have a very distinct sound. I like it.

Nice shots. I used to see a lot of Gannets flying around here when I was a young sprog. They were based at RNAS Ford a few miles away from where I lived at the time. It was closed down many years ago & is now an open prison. :(

I bet after you saw the first one, you could tell what was coming just by the sound.

That heavy, double Mamba Gearbox has got to be an awful weight disadvantage in the Aircraft?

Seems to be a complication, just for the sake of complication?

Paul...all geared-up... ;)...!

The weight could be useful ballast. It saves having the long nose common with conventional single-engined turboprops.
