QEII

Y'all are probably getting tired of the Wilco, but I felt I needed to do one more repaint for now.
For my friends across the pond.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

I was hoping for some feedback from across the pond. I had wanted to upload the textures but was waiting to see if I need to make alterations. The lack of feedback tells me there may not be enough interest to even fool with it though. At least the Marine One repaint is getting downloaded. I'll just have to try to do better in the future when it comes to creating interest and/or pleasing the Brits.

I think it looks very nice but perhaps a tad ostentatious for this side of the Pond. Here's a photo of the Queen's brand new helicopter for comparison. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Sikorsky-S-76C/1603719/L/

That is the feedback I was looking for. I did not think of looking for a picture of the chopper. I read where she was looking for a new jet, but did not see a mention of her getting it yet. And you are correct in your assessment. That chopper is gorgeous, yet refined. I will attempt to create the same. :)

Hope I was some help. I look forward to seeing what you come up with. That helicopter belongs to the Queen's Helicopter Flight which is part of the Royal Household. I wasn't sure if the tilt-rotor is classed as a helicopter or fixed-wing type.

The Queen no longer has a private jet. A little more info copied from Wikipedia: On 1 April 1995 The Queen's Flight was merged into No. 32 Squadron RAF to become No. 32 (The Royal) Squadron. Its BAe 146s and two Westland Wessex HCC.4 helicopters moved from Benson to 32 Squadron's base at RAF Northolt. This ended the RAF's provision of dedicated VIP transport aircraft; the aircraft of 32 Squadron are only available to VIP passengers if not needed for military operations.

These photos show the current livery of No 32 Squadron aircraft.

I'm not sure how it's classified either, but as to flight characteristics, it has both. In any event, the repaint is strictly fictional and I have redone it similar to the first picture you posted. I was just about to post when I noticed an update to this thread. I do appreciate the help. :)

Thanks for the Links Doug...excellent idea... ;)

Here in Canada we use an Airbus to transport the Prime Minister or a Challenger...etc.

There is no designated aircraft like the Americans have.

When the Prime Minister or Governor General travel the aircraft/helicopter is properly outfitted for them.  The same aircraft/helicopter will carry on with it normal squadron duties after that.

Myself personally I think the American Air Force One is a waste of the American taxpayers money and I was told that when visiting the United States several times by Americans.  To keep a back up aircraft as well... ::)

He puts his pants on one leg at a time just like you and I.  To see what some of these Arab Princes fly about in when they have people starving in their own country...I just shake my head... :-X

Won't say anymore for fear of this getting too political... ;D.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Hi Larry

There was a program about helicopters on the Cable Television Military Channel from 16:00 to 17:00 to day.  We just finished seeing it, and they showed the V22 Osprey for about thirty seconds.

The program was called "The Belly of the Beast" or something like that.
Very disappointing as they also showed the Bell 47 for about thirty seconds.

I think most of the program was focused on the host whatever his name was.... :-X     :P

I like it when they do a hour show on one piece of kit.  Now they are talking about some dump truck that has nothing to do with the military but the mining industry.

Does not figure to me.... >:(      :P

I miss my meals but nothing will stay down, television sucks and so here I am back on this electronic gizmo again... ;D
Hopefully things will get better, stomach wise but Simviation is my best medicine right now as it takes my mind off of my health.

Now I am thinking of doing a short hop Larry, perhaps in the Robinson Helicopter, you have got me interested in these wonderful flying machines from your posts.
I do not have any helicopters downloaded other than the default one or two in FSX and Acceleration.

I think the Robinson should be a good starter for me.

Wish me luck and hope I don't end up in the pine trees as the needles are pointy and sharp as well as hard on the butt.    ;D

Sorry to wander off topic Larry but it is all your fault for posting the wonderful shots of some great flying machines...that is my story and I am sticking to it... ;)    ;D

Cheers...Happy Landing...Doug
