man made landscape

Postby ManuelL » Sat May 08, 2010 11:20 am

Hi,

I took a short flight around the "Lausitz" region in Eastern Germany today. Starting in the late 19th century this region was turned into a huge brown coal mining area.

Image

Some have been filled with water after they closed leaving hundreds of small lakes.

Image

Quite a few villages were re-located to make place for new mines.

Image

Not the most beautiful region, but quite impressive from above.

Thanks for watching.
Manuel

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Nice shots! Did you spot the EuroSpeedway? 'Til August you should switch the plane though: the Red Bull Air Race will take place there from 6.-8. August.  :D ;)
