Had a similar experience - you can feel the suction just reading the ad.  In spite of the double dams, number two is a winner.

FSX/FS2004?

I love the desert Ground Texture and Colour in #3....(Photographic Scenery?)....
Much more realistic than my default FS 2004 Nevada/Arizona desert scenery colour and texture!

The Flight Sim default deserts never look quite right!
...no Tumbleweeds, Rattle Snakes, or Cowboy bones!... :'(.... ;D....!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav..and a bucket of sand... 8-)...!

I agree will you Paul. The default desert textures really suck. Other than the photo-real scenery that I'm using in these shots, there is a payware scenery that I have that I think really improves the overall color of the Arizona deserts. That is ...Ground Environment X - USA and Canada

Ground Environment X brings all-new ground textures to FSX, and it boasts an incredible 1 m/pixel texture resolution, using native 1024x1024 pixel images, and includes all seasons, meticulously designed night textures and the latest techniques in autogen placement and alignment. All this while keeping maximum Flight Simulator performance in mind during development.

For California, Nevada, and Arizona:
At the moment I am using (Payware) "Ground Environment Pro" for FS 2004 which enables me to "Colourorize" the ground Scenery/Texture. This means I can "lighten" it up, (make it brighter), but it doesn't make the Desert appear any more realistic, eg: "Sandy"!.... ;)...!
My FS 2004 Nevada, etc,"Desert" appears as endless yellow/brown Tiles, repeating into the far distance.... :'(....!

I am forever curious to know if the Nevada/Arizona Desert is actually a large, mainly empty area of.....yellow Sand?

....and Tumbleweeds...?

Bob...you live there...you would know...;)...!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004...and Rattlesnake boots... ;)...!
