No offence but I don't get it? whats the big grey patch?
Looks a mish mash of cut out stuff.

Tcco is right, it is part of the canopy frame. I couldn't get a good angle with both the pilot showing in the seat and planes in the background without the grey part taking up a portion of the shot.

I think it really helps to draw the viewers focus to the action in the shot.  8-)
