Morning patrol with bloom

Postby Daube » Sat May 17, 2008 4:29 am

Hi all,

Just fired recorder again while testing the FS2004 bloom system in my FSX. The results were quite pleasant, although I admit the rendering on the screenshots is far from the impression you get when you're flying :/

Enjoy :)

Thanks for the comment :)

In order to do formation flying like this, you must use a small freeware utility called "Recorder". It works for FS9 and FSX as well, and it works exactely like a video recorder.

Basically, you start on the runway, you trigger the recorder and then you take off, follow your pattern and land. Then you stop recorder, which will ask you to save your record.

Then it's simple: you go back to the beggining of the runway, and you play your record as an AI flight. Your "ghost" will appear and start flying exactely like you did on your last flight. It's the same principle as the car racing games, when you race again your ghost.

That is so simple...blows the mind how I never thought of that. That back drop just sets those planes off nicely, it reminds me of my trip to Bagram Afghanistan, look that nice up until we landed, but every thing taking off looked really nice like your shots.

Nice shots! However, im not so convinced with this bloom effect - i guess its personal taste!

There is a simpler way (in my view, having tried to fly formation with 'myself'!) to use fsrecorder to get formation shots - use slew mode. Posisiton one aircraft then record it unpaused but in slew.

Pause, change aircraft, un pause, start previous recording and youll find your new aircraft 'on top' of your previous recording. Then move your new aircraft away from your recording. Pause, then move around and take your shot! Just stay in slew mode or youll suddenly find yourself 50 miles away!

Simply replicate for more aircraft....tricky but once you get the hang of it its quite easy

I don't like bloom. Too much white for my eyes to handle. ;)

Your bloom however is perfect. Not too bright.
