QX9650
Geforce 8800 GTX
G.Skill DDR3 2x2gb
WD Raptor 10,000 RPM HDD

Getting 30FPS+ in FS9 and just crazy graphics and frames in Medal of Honor Airborne. Will buy FSX soon enough to really push this monster.

All shots are Default FS9. No enhancements of any kind.

You forgot to check your AA Alex ;)

Getting 30FPS+ in FS9

I think that is meaningless in an all default sim. I too can get those values on my four years old Dell with a default sim.

Fly a PMDG 744 into Cloud9 EHAM during a thunderstorm with 100% AI and full 1024x1024 3D non-DXT3 clouds. If you still get 30 FPS ... then I'll be impressed!

Seriously though ... those are quite impressive components and I know you will get your stuff together soon enough and you're in good hands ;)

Haven't done any of the tweeks Nick Posted yet and I haven't really put it to the test. ;)

Haven't done any of the tweeks

Me neither and your new beast could eat mine for breakfast out of the box. Let alone my default ...

My default sim is not tweaked nor did I shut down any services apart from Automatic Updates, System Restore and Indexing Service, though it is cleaned and defragged every once in while. Even my fs9.cfg is default. So I am wondering how come your new machine performs like it does compared to my Neanderthaler?

With your system (once you get FSX) you probably will never fly FS9 again...
AMD Athlon x2 4800+ 2.511GHz
320gb HD 7200 RPM
3gbs ddr2 667MHz RAM
8800GT 512mb
Vista hp...
FSX Maxed with around 17FPS
Maxed settings with autogen down a bit...30FPS. Full AA and AF.
Beasties, meet Beast.

*Sad face*

AMD Sempron 2800+
1.60 GHz
1.50 GB RAM
NVIDIA 6200 GT

FS9 gets like, 15 FPS max with all the stuff I have, all default gets around 20 or so.

I wont even tell you what specs my system is!

But even without being a monster, good addons and tweaking things i get some pretty decent results i think screenshot wise - and reasonable fps but i really really need to upgrade!

Are you running FS9 or FSX? I think you said somewhere it was FS9, but I just want to be sure.

You may actually be capable of getting much more than 30 fps, but if you are limiting it to that frame rate then you won't see it. You could try unlimited and see what kind of numbers you get then.

I am running FS9. I know I can get more than 30 but it is no use to go even over 24 as the eye can't detect much of a difference over 24.

Plus, if you lock at - say - 30 FPS your system does not need to push everything to get maximum FPS and can give those cycles to some other process in the sim like renderning the mesh or loading the textures.

If you set your sim to unlimited frame rates your system's first priority will be getting the maximum possible FPS and give the other processes a lower priority ...

And indeed Alex is right, the human eye can not detect a lot of difference over 30 FPS ... did you ever see a light bulb flash on and of fifty times per second??
