sun effect

Postby J. » Sat Nov 24, 2007 7:28 pm

I downloaded Nick Needham's FSX sun effect, and noticed he had not tested it in FS9.

I've been playing around with the suneffect.cfg and the results so far seem quite good.

So yes Nick the effect does work in FS9, but the settings need a small change to get them looking decent, i would just like to say it looks very good in FSX but in FS9 i felt they where just to defined.

So after a few changes i got this

Its very early changes, have not had much time to play around properly yet, but hope to do so in the coming week.

I have had a little trouble getting the god-ray effect to work, but like i said its early stages of messing about with it.

Thanks for the textures Nick, very nice work :)

I did indeed. I'm not redistributing his work, i'm just giving a new .cfg for use with them.

As long as it is only a config file edit, I do not mind and I welcome people to try and improve things.

I will see how your edits appear in FSX when I have a chance however with FSX the bloom feature must be taken into consideration. If the settings are out of ballance, when bloom is enable it will not work correctly. Also, FSX enhances the flair even without bloom enabled which is why the flair settings needed the tweak

EDIT: I just looked at your changes. It appears the only thing you did was bump up lens flair 1, 2 and 3 a bit which is in line with my instructions for FSX.

The same textures are used in FS9 so I suspected it would work, I just had not tested them to be sure.
