They are still flying today...for NASA. They use two ex-AA 747-123's to carry the Space Shuttle around.


Actualy one was a SR version from JAL.

AA operated the -123 variant until 1983 when they traded them to Pan AM for more DC-10s.  They acquired some SPs that were ex-TWA, but that was long before the merger.  They were retired in 1994.
