A Phantom Wake-up ( one I'm rather satisfied with)

Postby Souichiro » Wed Mar 15, 2006 6:40 pm

And a post I'm actually very very satisfied with! Hope you agree!

I read a rather interesting piece in this months FlyPast about the F-4 Phantom in British service! The Following quote made me to having to do this flight!

" Obviously other pilots took an interest in our new kit. In the very early days on the OCU, a Lightning appeared alongside to have a look. Neither of us had any idea of the others frequency, but he made some appropiate hand signals and we both put in full reheat. It wasn't long before he dissapeared into my 12 o'clock But of course when that was over he had to land whereas I could keep flying around for another 45 minutes!"

So here are the shots!

Takeing off in the early morning
Image

The forecast for the day was that the weather was going to improve
Image

As of yet it was very cloudy
Image

But the skies were opening up slowly
Image

This is certainly one of the sexiest planes ever made!
Image

A twister shot ( the large version actually made me a little dizzy)
Image

Heading out over the sea
Image

Later that day I intercepted an Easyjet 737
Image

But of course this is Simv and therefore more appropiate

Plane is ITO's ina special AVA package which you can find here on Simv!

I hope you enjoyed it!!! ( I did )

The F-4 was a great fighter, but personally, I think it's a crude design, and as far as looks are concerned, isn't the best looking. Not that i'm saying it's ugly, but there are a lot more 'sexier' aircraft out there ;D

The F-4 is a very ugly plane but it does what it is supposed to well.

The F-4 to this day is my all time favorite AC. Being an EX AC engine mechaninc I can tell you one thing about it. All the Vets in the bizz called it the flying pig. And that it was. there was more safety wire holding it together than anything else. you could  take all that wire, melt it down and make yourself another AC out of it ;D. Superb shots man!  Although, whats up with the regog lights/strobes? Alfull "starbright" ::)

The F-4 to this day is my all time favorite AC.

Ditto on that, only I have no other reason other than it was constantly flying overhead for most of my childhood years and it's presence demanded attention and inspired awe.

A most beautiful aircraft in my opinion, I loved the sight of these jets and only realised later in life that the F4 Phantom II was one of the greatest warplanes ever.

The sight of a Phantom going vertical and just disappearing is one  I'll never forget.
