X-Plane Screenies

Postby Katahu » Sat Dec 31, 2005 3:43 pm

I haven't set up the weather just yet. I'm still trying to figure out how to get some nice clouds.

Getting ready to take off from Miami Int'l. I could have picked Homestead ARB, but I wanted an airport that's close to Downtown.

This beauty has a lovely figure. ;D

Very accurate scenery. Well, I have the level set at default because of my rig's limitations.

A mean-looking jet.

What's this I'm carrying? A Marmalade bomb?Sweet!

Darting though the skies towards Homestead.

Here is the link to the F-15 addon. There are many variations available.

There is also an update that converts the current version of X-Plane from v8.20 to v8.30 Beta. There are noticable improvements in frames and loading times.

Jessy you have Xplane?  :)
Whats it like? Ive always shyed away from it because I have this idea in my mind that there arent any addons for Xplane... am I wrong?
Sorry gotta ask a few more questions..  ;D ;)
Do you get virtual cockpits?
What are the graphics like? Do you get lock on style shadows are any other kind of graphical improvement over fs?
Is it easy to get a hang of when youre used to fs?
Does it offer the same kind of systems and aircraft that are available for fligthsim?
Can you fire those weapons? Its not something I would look for in a civil sim but I wouldnt mind either.
Which sim do you prefer?

Sorry, couldnt resist!  ;D
Xplane always seemed kind of like Mac to me, but even mac has its own beauties!  ;)
Looks fun on first sight, nice shots!

Cheers,
Alpha :)
And a very happy new year to you!

1. Some addons have DVCs but most of them don't.
2. Yes, you can fire the weapons. They even explode.
3. You can reach space. There is no 100,000ft barrier.
4. There are plentiful addons around. Some good, some bad.
5. It will take a while to set up the controls, but it can reach the joystick.
6. The topography of the X-Plane is more accurate than FS. But the texture still needs correcting.
7. Weather is still behind from FS, but you can set it to go random.
8. Sorry, no LOMAC style shadows.
9. ATC chatter is more realistic.
10. Improved loading time and frame rates.
11. It will take time to learn about addon development.

Like I said in another thread, this sim is catching up. Just give it a few more years and it will seriously compete against FS.

I think you have to download the scenery tiles in instalments, like you can download the global mesh from here. When I had x-plane 6.70, I asked why everywhere was ocean except San Bernadino Intl. and it's coz you have to download the areas. It's free though I think  ;D
