"Doctor, Doctor! He's awake!"
A doctor in a white coat enters the room. He does a few tests and then asks me,
"How are you feeling?"
"About as good as a daisy in a bull's mouth" I reply. He chuckles.
"Don't worry, you'll be feeling better and out of here in no time." He reassures me. He exits and the nurse brings me lunch. I start eating. Once I finish I look around. Everything is white and so sterile, I'm surprised anything survives in here, including people. I turn and notice and man sitting on his bed to my left. He nods his head then introduces himself.
"Hey I'm Todd,"
"Scott," I reply and shake his hand. We get talking. Eventually the subject of how I got in here arises. I quickly tell him as much of the tale as I can. Todd seems to be very interested in my round the world attempt and my stroke of bad luck. He reveals that he is a mechanic and salvager. He offers to recover my AG-14.
"We can get her back here an up flying within a week"
I accept his offer. A few days later I'm released from hospital and have an itch to get back into the air. I head over to Brisbane International and manage to hire a Robin DR-400, a French trainer, for a couple of hours. I decide to go for a sight seeing tour of the area. I take off and bank towards the South.
The air is calm and there is a slight cloud cover. The conditions are nice for my return to the air.
I head over some mountainous regions. The view is spectacular. I soon turn east and head towards the ocean.
Heading towards the ocean I pass over a group of islands.
After a little more flying about I turn back to Brisbane Intl. I turn onto final, I'm a little high but it is fixable.
I land perfectly and quickly exit the runway
I taxi her back to the parking area and say goodbye. I can't wait to have my AG-14 back!!
