Err no, Dec '89 if memory serves. Went into service with the SAF in '96.


I think Souch might have been referring to the first flight of a Hungarien Gripen? :)

The Gripen while good, wouldn't last 30 seconds in a fight with the Tyhoon. Its thrust to weight isn't even comperable to eurofighter.

I doubt it as we're not getting them until next year. The first test flights by Hungarian pilots were done 2000 or 2001 I can't remember which...

Its feasible though - the first Hungarian Gripen entered the last satge of production in October, and that was due to last 4 months, after which flight testing was to commence...
