Hello,

My PC is so old it's riddiculas, Tony Robinson has dug up newer stuff!

Anyway I have decided to purchase a new PC as "computer say's no" whenever I try and crank up any graphics.

So I am requesting a favour from everyone. If you have a newer high end system (3k mhz +) then can you please post a screen shot of the graphics quality you get along with the spec of your PC.

I don't want the full graphics quality, but the quality to which you normally play it at.

Many thanks

Regards
Paul

PS This may be moved, but it is screen shot related so I thought it was the best spot.

Here's a link to a thread in the payware shots forum, where I have taken some pics of the PMDG 737NG. The shots were taken on the first system in my sig:

First let me just say :I'm glad to help another fellow SimV member out

Secondly let me jus say
Tony Robinson has dug up newer stuff
LMAO !

And third let me give you a link to my pics

My P.c is running at 2.93GHZ. I understand you wanted 3.0Ghz I'd thought these would give you an idea.

I'm also pretty sure it has more to with the graphics card than the speed, but im not sure about all that technical mumbo jumbo ::) lol

Nice thread... but it would be more useful if all the screenshot contained a FPS counter to help you

Why doesn't anyone who responds to DTWD's request  indicate the frame rates they feel are an accurate average of what they achieve on a day to day basis.

Thanks for the reply's.

One was of NFSU2, which was interesting.

Basically I was wonder what spec machine I need to be able to crank up the scenery to full or close to full.

What kind of playable frame rates are we talking about?

Frame rates aren't the be all and end all. Mine despite the power of the machine aren't fantastic but the screenies are.
It all depends on what you want from your machine and the sim. I was running FS9  on an old 500mhz intel celeron with a pci 128mb graphics card and only 128meg of RAM and got reasonable results ....... but in heavy traffic or bad weather the FPS were none existant... the screenies still looked ok.
My advice ...... Buy what you can afford and can be easily upgraded. Then if you aren't impressed with the results you can upgrade to improve them when you can afford it.

If you only look for cool pics then you're probably fine with 1 fps, provided that you move the plane in place using the Y key  ;)
Seriously, under 15/20 fps i find flying a bit hard.

My specs are in my sig. and i can get 15-20 FPS with EVERYTHING except autogen maxed out :)
Oh, and my graphics card DOESN'T allow me to put water detail up to max :(

Even with every Project AI package, I still hit 15 FPS flying around Heathrow and JFK ;)

Cheers,

Carl

DTWD, I'm curious, what are your current system specs? It seems that it's you or me for the title of "simpilot with the oldest possible hardware".
:D

Hey Friday,

I'm not usually one to have a dig at other peoples rigs, but : W:oW, you're not kidding are you?
I'm only taking the p**s 'cause I used to have something similar, except I only had 2.3 Gb HD ;D

Cheers,

Carl

Well according to system performance measuring things my PC is fast for what it is, but it's slow.

It's a p3 600, 512ram, Matrox g400 Max 32mb graphics card, 30 gig, 40 gig and a 60 gig hard disks.
