And as for the Me262 thing, who knows? My guess is that if the third reich was still fighting fit in 1945 you'd have seen a mushroom cloud over Berlin.

Whittle first invented the jet engien around 1929 (approx.), so IF the air ministry had given the green light from the start we would have probably started WW2 flying Hunters and Lightnings!  ;D

Of course, the Air war was only part of the equation.  Consider this:

Two Russian Generals were toasting their victory over the United States.  As they drank one asked the other "So who won the ground war?"
