Double trouble in Asia

After the terrible earthquake in Sri-lanka, me and my copilot where send to the area of Pukhet ( Thailand) to help the local people out by performing medical flights.

The local authorities assured us the bird we'd fly was ok, though mildlu bruised by a tsunami.

We didn't think much out of it and started our job.

Last check-list. every thing Ok. Time to roll...

But somewhere along the line the bird was damaged more then assessed in earlier inspections. Loud bang and we lost our power. The engine overheated i suppose...




A few tense minutes later we were on the ground, but the bird is out of order. No injuries, thank God... Of to the start point again to fetch an other bird and keep working...

Over all you might be doubling or even tripling that number...  :-/  :( Very sad!

Excellent shots!  The Augusta A109 is an outstanding aircraft to fly.

I fly it occassionally using my own repaint in the Airlift Northwest paint scheme.

It's a terrible story about that quake, though. I heard the number just went to 22,000 dead with the possible toll almost four times that amount spread over nine countries.  I also read somewhere that an entire section of Earth's crust near the island of Sumatra nearly 620 miles long shifted in the quake.

That's just a small splash however, compared to the tsunami that the eruption of Krakatoa caused in May of 1883. The explosion was heard 3,500 miles away and over 33,000 people died. Entire islands and villages were wiped off the map.  The ironic part is that Krakatoa is less than approximately 1000 miles from where this latest earthquake struck, and it's in the same chain of islands.
