An Odd Duck

Postby jordonj » Fri Oct 15, 2004 12:50 am

If anyone is wondering why we haven't started down South yet, it's because DeeDee won't leave the room she and her husband booked (so poor Russel had to pay for more days).  Russel won't say, but I think it has to do with Alyssa and Olga.  I hate to be selfish, but I almost wish those two had never met; things would be a lot less difficult right now. :-/

But on the bright side, sticking around meant we got to see this (Tom shot this as I was out on Gerald's boat at the time)

I did catch it as it came around...

I took another shot as it turned to land on the water.

And taxiied into shore...

Later, after coming in from the water and having a bit of lobster, I took a few of this odd craft on the beach.  Looks like boat that had wings attached to it (it's owner describes it exactly that way)  Turns out it's a Sikorsky S-38 replica of the Untin Bowler!

I don't usually go crazy over the interior of a plane, but this plane was worth making an exception for!

Its owners really went to town here.  Everything looks authentic (indeed, much of what you see here is antique).

A good thing I don't smoke! :o ;D

Well, its owners are headed down to a show in Virginia Beach (this Sunday).  There's going to be a whole show of S-38s and S-39s there.  We are so going there...

Okay DeeDee, time to get over whatever's bothering you, and get outta that room.  We gotta go!
