Another question for the mods

Postby Andres89 » Wed Aug 11, 2004 9:04 pm

I know that the limit for an image is 100 kilobytes and the limit for a thread is 500kb . I'm just wondering if I have one screenshot which is over 100kb could I still post it? If so how much grace do I receive ??? Thank you again

Acutally the server will delete the image. Please don't post over 100kb as it takes a long time to download for those on dial-up, and you're only wasting your time as it will be deleted. Frankly if you can't get it under 90kb, then there is something v.wrong with your PC.

The server deletes them ??? I didn't know that. But if  the server deletes them why do I see posts with pics over 100kb and more than 500kb in the thread ??? I'm not gonna name which mod it was but he had 2 pics over 100kb and 5 shots which were all close 100kb (the lowest one was 96kb) As a good citizen of this forum :) I am not complaining about that post I'm just wondering why the server didn't delete it then ???

Hmm that is mysterious, can you point me in the direction of the thread? Might be since we upgraded there has been an undetected problem....

Yeah, the Centrifugal 1.25 Jiggawatt Omni-Spectrum Analyzer might miss a few here and there, but as for the big offenders, it wipes em' right out!  :o

Best investment Pete ever bought!  ;)

Before I used Pix resizer but now I'm using the Irfanview. I'm just wondering how much kb you're allowed over, if you are allowed to do that.

Well, I went into my game, and i did a test. Here are the results:
..with Pixresizer:
Image
110 kb.

Now the same test with Irfanview:
Image 43.5 kb.

Do you see any difference in quality ??? I don't . I think my problem is solved :D Sorry about the hassle. And after you viewed the first pic just delete it or whatever.

You seem to be getting the hang of it. If you get some money, Photoshop programs will give you many options when manipulating size and resolution. If you click the link, you will see how easy it is here with a Photoshop program. It basically shows your resolution on a slider. Just pick and click!

I deleted your "example". Here is that 110kb saved at 80kb. Can you see a real difference?

& that should be far less than 80K

Like Andres posted above =- 45K is more like it.

There is no reason really to have images over 60K. Use Irfanview or ACDSee - not photoshop - it's far more efficient, in my experience, for simple stuff like this..
