Silver Spitfire

Postby Hagar » Mon Aug 05, 2019 12:59 pm

I popped over to Goodwood today to see the departure of the Silver Spitfire on its Around the World trip. https://www.silverspitfire.com
The weather didn't look at all good but the early rain & low cloud fortunately cleared in time for the start of proceedings.

To start with we were treated to a nice display by one of the Boultbee Academy Spitfires.

Next the Red Devils turned up. This is just one of the team.

For those that are interested in follow this flight in the simulator with the Realair Spit:

After some investigation I have found that this plane has an increased fuel capacity to a total of 200 Imp. gall. (so 240 US gall. for the sim). A tank in each wing and a bigger rear fuselage tank. I have increased more in fuselage.

Alaso the ammunition weight must be 0

This is why I have changed my aircraft.cfg:

... ... ...

[WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE]
max_gross_weight=7500
empty_weight=5997 // including camera, avionics, extra gear

reference_datum_position=3.8, 0.000, 0.000
empty_weight_CG_position=-3.6, 0.000, 0.000

max_number_of_stations=4

station_load.0="196.000, -4.20, 0.00, 0.00, PILOT & Chute" // Including Chute and Gear
station_load.1= "250.000, -3.90, 0.00, 0.00, EQUIPMENT"
station_load.2= "150.000, -3.70, 0.00, 0.00, OIL and FLUIDS "
//station_load.3= "300.000, -3.70, 0.00, 0.00, AMMUNITION "

... ... ... ...

[fuel]
Center1 = -3.7, 0.0, 3.0, 90.00, 0.0 ;//useable fuel Imperial Gallons Converted to US Gallons for FSX
Center2 = -3.7, 0.0, -3.0, 90.00, 0.0 ;//useable fuel Imperial Gallons Converted to US Gallons for FSX
RightMain = 0.3, 5, -0.4, 30.0, 0.0
LeftMain = 0.3, -5, -0.4, 30.0, 0.0

In P3DV4.5, 32bit textures update are required, but moving surfaces in the Silver Spit (ailerons, rudder and elevator) are not shiny metal.
