I took these at Homestead Air Reserve Base earlier in the month during the Wings Over Homestead Open House and Air Show. Enjoy!

Man , great photos! I was stationed at Homestead AFB from oct 1957 to Mar 1961. I thought I hated it, but actually I really loved it. At that time it was attached to 2nd AF and a huge part of Stratigic Air Command. I was an Airman in thre periodic insp and repair docks working on B-47s, affectively named Flying Gas Tanks. They were at the top of the airplane food chain and everyone of us was very proud when they were released to flight duty. At the end of my enlistment, the AF moved everything, lock stock and barrel to Minot, North Dakota. I was hanging by a small thread as to wether I would reenlst, but they told me I would have to go to Minot. Needless to say, I got my discharge and moved on. Too bad they didn't have B-47s there. I had always thought that they were much prettier than the B-52 and there was plenty of history behind the 47s.

One more short little story; one day I was out on the flight line and I heard a set of 20 cal going off. Seems like somebody was in the co-pilots seat and that person triggered off the twin cannons. We never knew who did that thing, but, the next day a picture was shown in the local paper of a farmers house (approx 15 miles west of the base) and there was nothing left of it (the house). Nice little story to tell the grand kids; yes?

Thanks again for the pics, Jerry G
