Something you don't see every day (well I do at the moment  ) a DO-24 Amphibian is in the hanger where my office is located. She is heavily modified, technically a Warbird, the fuselage built in 1944. The wing is however not original and neither are the P&W PT6 engines...She was a flying test bed before being flown privately. She has also been fitted with retracts at some point, also not original. Right now she is being prepared for the summer.

Good one Matt! I saw this bird displaying at Dunsfold (I think it was) some years ago. It was flown by the grandson of Claudius Dornier.

I believe she still is. Right now she is getting a big repair on the nose section after hitting a log during a water landing.

Amazing video! It must have been some log. It says a lot for the design of the airframe. Most types would have sunk after hitting that.

Probably down to the undercarriage installation, there will be quite a bit of over design if the LBA (German CAA) had anything to do with it....
