Air Mobility Command Museum, Part 6 - Antonov An-2

This is a "new" acquisition. Not really a US airship of course, but one that they got from an air museum down south that had to reduce it's collection for lack of money.

In the flight sims some aircraft just aren't very impressive.

But in real life this one most definitely impressive. Standing next to it, you're surprise that it can fly.

I hurt my back jut looking at these things, they're real heavy looking monsters.

Very popular on the private register here in Germany. In the hangar where I have my offices, there is a fine example, Google D-FOKY.

Definitely one of my favourite aircraft, used to see one fly over my house often a number of years ago, what a sight!

I recomend the purchase of Sibwing's AN-2 which I often take out of my virtual hanger, just seems to float off & onto the runway at amazingly insane slow speeds!

I've flown the freeware Antonov AN-2 but wasn't impressed. It's not bad, it just left me uninterested.

Now, having seen the Antonov AN-2 up close and personal, so to speak, I really am impressed with the real plane.

As to the SibWings AN-2, I'll have to hope that it'll be on sale in a few months.

One thing that makes their plane more enticing is that there are 69 repaints on their site. :o

Somebody must like it. :D

I don't believe it! Thanks OldAirmail, I've been on that site soooo many times now & I never knew they had any repaints!! I'll be downloading a few favourites & taking a few flights in them!

As I said before it's a great aircraft, really well modelled too, well worth £11.75

Unfortunately it's about $18 for me. At the moment I have a lot of money going out the door.

But those repaints are certainly an enticement.

I understand where you're coming from, sometimes hobby costs have to come lower down the priorties list! Food is 1st for me! :)

When they first appear on the UK civil register in the 90s they we heralded as the largest aircraft you could fly with only a PPL.

Still on my shopping list, alongside the PPL!

I hope you get both, the plane and the PPL.

I'll be glad to go up in her with you as the captain. :D
