My office

Postby wifesaysno » Mon Jul 14, 2014 8:47 pm

My new job has me doing a ton of very hands on engineering. So I have been spending 1/4 of my time in the hanger working on/in, and flying in this beaut, N927LE, the very first Lancair Evolution affectionately named 'Elvis'.

That would be a Lycoming 540 powered Legacy in the foreground (N540L which is actually a skin here on SimV).

Work is a blast!

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles.

Is there anyway that I can be of help?

Perhaps as a passenger? :D

Come to central Oregon and pay Lancair a visit OldAirMail!!

Coming out of college and having a 2 month stint at a hell hole I am pretty pumped about working it here. It was at the top of my list of 'cool places to work'.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Also a tad cheaper.......

Matt, the whole point of the Evolution's existence is to replace the first turbine Lancair: The IV Prop Jet which was a real killer. Un holy fast....too fast! And a lot smaller :D
http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/aircraf ... 8UY2PldXxY
****The airspeeds mentioned are structural limits, I have seen to many crash reports of the IV Prop Jet going well past 400mph which it was never designed for*****

But I believe this is the smallest turbine kit plane to-date (not a kit with a turbine though):

The coolest Lancairs are the Legacy and 360 hands down. Sweet little speed demons. Legacy's at Reno can hit 400mph on ~600hp and the 360s can pass 300mph on ~200hp! Not bad for little 2 seaters O0
