Goodwood Aerodrome & Motor Circuit is a most attractive spot near my home in West Sussex. I took my camera along last Saturday for my first visit this year. The occasion was a charity track day run by my old boss, the owner of some of the super sports cars in these photos which were taken during the parade lap after lunch.

The petrol heads will know what these are better than me.




















The Rolls-Royce factory is just down the road. They brought this one to show us.

In order:

A real car.
Another real car.
A tuned Volkswagen.
Orange thing made in Italy (probably).
Green monstrosity made by an Italian.
Zonda. It's an Italian thing.
Overrated Fiat.
Something blue.
White, black and red. Must be Italian.
Another white car. Not a Mercedes.
Actually a very nice looking Rolls.

Probably more exciting than the new Formula 1 cars.

Some of the cars in my photos do not meet the noise limits for the event which is the reason I took them during the parade lap when the speed is restricted. This is the only chance to see them on the track.

Gosh they had a Rolls Royce there but what they needed was a Model 88 Land Rover to give the event some class...

None of these events could take place without these chaps.

An interesting mix there Doug, for me it'd be between the McLaren and the Landie

Well, i think i'll stick with my Toyota Verso atm
BUT i sure would like a "turn around" in that #6 Le Mans car

Nice pics Hagar. I'm no supercar expert so I only recognised 2 of them.


I had one of these for a few years and to be quite honest it fightened the cr*p out me on more than a few occasions. Not as fast as the cars in your pics but plenty fast enough for me. It was also quite a cheap car to buy and run. Insurance was cheaper than my current car........A Pre Lit Westfield 7 with 1700 crossflow ford c/w ported head and high lift cams, twin 40 webbers that sucked out loud. An engine that was easy to work on. The previous owner had raced it for several seasons so I rebuilt it. It had a cherry bomb silencer on it when I bought it and it used to set Bank alarms off when I went past, a bit antisocial so I got stainless side vent exhaust fitted.........got it out of the system, done fast cars now.



This pic is not my car but pretty much the same apart from tyres and roll bar.

Interesting how Euro style autos differ from North American styles. Great photos by the way, Doug. The common denominater seems to be the throaty roar from the exhaust pipes. I suppose we in North America live closer to very long and straight roads. But the variance between the south and north autochoice is huge. (From Texas to the Yukon.) These euro cars are beautiful and engineered to a tee, but they would have to be put away for 7 months a year in the north. If my comment sparks conversation, so be it, that is a good thing.

We've had this chat before. European roads have these things called corners. The USA seems to be full of straight lines. Even NASCAR pretends the corners are straights...
