Pat?

That gentleman was the late Wing Commander Ken Wallis. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/10286869/Wing-Commander-Kenneth-Wallis.html

I was quite surprised to notice that Ken's Gyroplane was equipped with a "Pre-rotator"; a flexible drive from the gearbox on the engine to a gear wheel on the rotor, operated by a clutch, enabling the rotor to be spun up to speed before take off, and then disengaged when in normal flight allowing the rotor to spin freely.
It must have been one of his very latest designs?
With old versions of the Gyroplane, the rotor had to be "spun up" by hand by the pilot, or another person on the ground.....

I wonder if we met or worked together at The Southern Aero Club. I left to join the Army in 1965

Pash was still instructing at that time, with a little help and guidance from his wife Vera

Happy but hard days during the summer months but I got my PPL.

It's possible Eric. I left the Club in late 1962.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Thanks Matt. The Desford didn't look too bad until they messed around with it. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/53/R.S.3.jpg

The Desford, almost looks like a prototype Beaufighter in form...As for the Meteor, that is just so wrong.....
