Aye, the first aircraft to claim a kill on D-Day...

(it only had one seat, and cannons fitted on 6/6/44!)

Whenever I see, what looks like, a 2-seater Spitfire I automatically think of Carolyn Grace's very attractive 2-seater Spitfire....>>> http://www.ml407.co.uk/

That is indeed the Grace Spitfire Doug. A personal favourite of mine. Walking the flight line for Emi and I came to a tenner, money well spent to get up close and personal and considering I don't have a DSLR camera meant I got these shots. I'll post some more a little later 8-)

From time to time I turn around and look at a page from an old calendar that I pined to the corkboard behind my chair.

That Spitfire looks rather different now. It was involved in a fatal crash in 1998 (flying into the side of a hill IIRC), and has now been "restored" to a high back configuration. I have to admit I've never been quite comfortable with the resurrection of aeroplanes which, to all intents and purposes, have been destroyed, only for their identity to be re-used to add several zeros to the value of what is effectively a "new build" airframe.

A tenner, now that surprises me, I was expecting you to say twenty. Looks like I will be taking the walk in July then
