Avenger at Ohakea

Sorry for taking a while to upload some photos of the RNZAF's 75th Anniversary Air Show.

Here are some of them.

The Avenger was the largest single engine aircraft of World War Two.

It was powered by a Wright R-2600-20 radial engine that generated 1,900 hp.

The turret gunner was armed with a .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine gun.

A single .30 caliber hand-fired machine gun mounted was ventrally (under the tail), which was used to defend against enemy fighters attacking from below and to the rear.
