Belize Spotting

Had some free time here and there while I was training in Belize and we were located conveniently on the other side of Belize International Airport so I snapped a few shots of the local island hoppers.

Nice shots Truck. Was there anything left of the Harrier revetments to be seen. Mind you it is many years since they left.

Are you asking about the British training wing they had there...BATSUB?  There is a Harrier posted outside the airport as you drive in, RAF markings on it.  As for the British training wing there, it still exists, and a small group of British are still stationed there.  That was the base we were headquartered at for the training evolution (Price Barracks) and we used all there buildings and even the chopper pads for out Medevac copter.

I'll post more shots of the area later, maybe tonight.

On my second try because I forgot to click on the post message button,  :P . I love the aircraft and the liveries, but I really like photos that have background beyond the subject matter. You've done that here, two thumbs up!  8-)

Thanks Steve, I was trying to get the "feel" of Belize in the shots.

Wow, great to see an Australian built aircraft flying in such a unique part of the world. The Gippsland Aero Airvan, looks very similar to the Caravan but smaller and built down south in Victoria. Cool. 8-)

Good place to buy booze. The airport duty free does a 50% military discount too IIRC! :D ;D

I missed out on that discount, maybe they got rid of it?  Either way, we drank for free at the bar in the airport (Jet's Bar) so that was even better.  I did get a 12 pack of Belikin beer for $6, and we brought back a good stash of rum.   ;)
