Disclaimer:  This is in no way related to Irene, I just haven't processed the tens of thousands of pics I have taken this summer.


My wife is from Tuscaloosa, AL and we went there this past July to visit the family and I took a lot of pictures of damage from the April F5 tornado that tore through.  I mistakenly deleted all but 5 pictures, dammit so much!  >:(    But here is a few shots of the devastation, 3 months after the impact.

In no way am I comparing Justin, but the last two remind me of the F4 that came through my county in 1987 killing 6 and injuring 350.

My heart goes out to people that go through such as this, no matter where they are.

Oh my. Hope that city can rebuild as fast as possible .

i mean actual size not strenght.
was it like 100m,200m,500m or anything else?

The National Weather Service has determined the path length of this violent tornado to be 80.3 miles (129.2 km) with a maximum damage path width of 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The tornado's most intense damage indicated peak winds of around 190 mph (310 km/h); therefore, it was given a final rating of EF4.

It went right through downtown.  While we were driving around, everything looked normal, just like anytown, then suddenly there is a clean cut line of destruction going through downtown, everything is flattened, then everything looks normal again.  Very surreal.

Thanks for your input Larry.  I was wrong calling this an EF5, apparently it was an EF4.  I could only imagine what an EF5 would have done
