Nice show and tell Truck
I visited the Rock about 10 and 15 years ago, a real experience. Also met and spoke at length to an ex-inmate (they had guest inmate of the week so to say), a very interesting gentleman by the name of Jim Quillian (he wrote a very informative book about his stay) who I may add turned himself around after is holiday on the island and made a real life for himself (he trained and worked as a radiographer). How ever, I felt on both occasions that I was being taken for a ride by how much it cost to get in. The queues to get a ticket went around the block, and the boats filled to the last man. For that you got to look at a few buildings and a derelict building sight. It would appear that not much of the amassed cash gets put back in to a HUGE tourist attraction :-?

Times have changed Matt. Not sure what the cost was for each of us to go, it was less than $27 I know for sure, and the crowds were small sized. Probably not as popular as it was 15 years ago.
It's a "go at your own pace" tour, go where you want, when you want, just catch the last boat back to shore or sleep with the birds type of tour. The boats were full but not packed, plenty of open seats. 8-)
Jim Quillian I believe was one of the commentators on the Audio part of the tour.

Thanks guys. Yes I got to sit in solitary, with no lights on, it was rather haunting

its just my personal thought, but I personally think that Gov. Arnold needs to reopen THE ROCK and the nation use it basically like Guantanamo Bay Cuba for military prisoners.
