Sound of Speed airshow at KSTJ - statics part 1

Postby TacitBlue » Sun May 02, 2010 7:46 pm

Hi all, I had a fun time today at the airshow. They do this every few years at my local airport, I think they should do it annually. Anyway, here's the first part of the pics that I took today.

Image
This was the first thing I saw when I walked in the gate, so I took a picture of it. I think it's a Piper Pawnee, spray planes all look alike to me, but they are fascinating none the less.

Image
I'm not sure what this is, it looks like an E-2 without the giant radar antenna. A C-2?

Image
A close-up of that 9 bladed prop. I just thought it was cool.

Image
A P-40! I love the look and the lines of the P-40. This was the best I could do for a picture, people were flocking all around it most if the time.

Image
I tried to get a little arty with this one. It's a B-25, but I focused on the engine and prop. If that guy weren't sitting there it would be pretty good.

I hope you liked them, there's another set of static shots to come and then something special for the areal displays. ;)

Aircraft are naturally beautiful because form follows function. -TB

Great shots!  That's a C-2A Greyhound.  I've never saw one in person, nice catch!

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
