A while back I had posted that I thought I saw an MI-24 fly over my work, and had since wondered

Nice shots, but why is it classed as experimental?

Im just guessing... but maybe because there is no type cert for it in the US?
Pilot told me that this is the only Hind currently flying in the US as well!

Maybe because of all the stickers at the switches and gauges???

Also, it's not the only Hind flying in the US.
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... 4&PageNo=1The Cold War Air Museum in Texas has one flyable, and one that soon will be.

Wonderful photographs! The Mi-24 is a particular favourite of mine. I was reading a little while ago (probably 8 months ago) that three Ukrainian Mi-24's (with a possible addition of two other Mi-24's) were up for sale at around 1.9 million USD. A little bit out of my price range I'm affraid...but I can imagine it raised many heads.
