So i've been using my $10 tri-pod that I got off of craigslist more and more, and it just isn't cutting it anymore. I don't mind spending a bit on a good quality tripod. Can anyone recommend a good, quality, sturdy, tripod?

Andrew, don't worry about brand-name or anything like that......
.....what I looked for when I got mine, was that it was portable, had enough rigidity to hold the camera with long lens attached, was durable (check that the locking mechanisms will stand the test of time and are not cheap plastic) and has full adjustment for all the angles you can think of.........
BTW, mine is over 25 yrs old now and had a generic camera shop name, but is a Velbon design......one leg lock gave up the ghost a few yrs ago..... :(

I have a a $120 tripod from manfrotto and it works great.  Its not the highest quality or the most expensive, but its durable and considerably more sturdy than those cheapos that cost $30
