Just wondering if anyone else has also bought the following. I purchased a new SD card for my camera this week. It is a WiFi SD card from Eye-Fi. No more cables, no more chip adaptors, no more removal of the card from the camera. Just turn on your camera, turn on your computer and the upload starts automatically. There are some down sides. The card has to be registered to an email address when you first set it up and if you are a private person there are some potential data and tracking questions, but only if you use the software manager that comes with it. If you are prepared to trust eye-fi then it does have some other features, one which is rather good. Out and about and no access to your home router you can upload your pictures to the eye-fi server via a friend for example and retrieve them once you are back home. It also has geo-tagging, and hotspot capabilities, but these are an annual subscription package. Also, as for geo-tracking.........to be used in evidence against you, and you never know what extra triangulation type info is also stored in a window like manner :-/
However if just used in the basic camera to computer mode it can't be faulted.

I saw something similar at an air show some years ago. This chap came up & showed us a new Kodak digital camera. He took a photo of me & my mate & told us to collect the print from the nearby stand. Amazing.

I assume this only applies to SD cards, probably because they're commonly used in mobile phones. It would be no good to me as my camera takes different cards & I don't have a router. Not sure I trust these online services. I don't know how much they cost but I would rather purchase a conventional card to use as a spare. I have no problems using my card reader to transfer my photos to my PC.

I've thought about getting one, the geo-tagging would be cool for when I'm doing aerial shots.  It would also be awsome for shooting a wedding in a place with wifi, or bring one of those mobile pocket wifi things along.

I just don't know yet, I'm weary of not having backup shots on the camera.
