Shuttleworth Military Pageant
I took a chance on the weather & went to this event at Old Warden yesterday. Just before the show was due to start some huge black clouds came rolling in & it started to rain. The display started in very dull conditions but fortunately the sun broke through & we had bright sunshine for the second half of the show. Probably the best weather for any air show I've been to this year.
The theme of the show was the Royal Navy. The Collection's Sea Hurricane takes off to start the tribute.

It's rather ironic & disappointing in the Centenary year of Naval Aviation that all the aircraft of the RNHF are apparently grounded for the rest of the season. They don't seem to have had much luck in recent years.
Not as impressive a line-up as previous years but at least we had a couple of private visitors to represent them.
Kennet Aviation's Seafire 17

and Skyraider flown by RNHF boss John Beattie.

Tim Manna displaying his Westland Wasp.

The Collection's Sopwith Triplane. This type served with the Royal Naval Air Service in 1917.

A visiting Chipmunk in similar markings to those of the RNHF aircraft leaving after the show.
