I take it those are MTVRs? And it also looks like some of the Marines in your fireteam are holding Mk.12 SPRs, but I've never seen an SPR with an RCO, so they are probably M16A4s.

Fantabulous shots!.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!
I LOVE the big Truck...

...!
Reminds me of my Peterbilt Tractor Unit in my "18 Wheels of Steel"...

..!
The vegetation certainly looks greener than it does in the FS 2004 Flight Sim, (red Nevada sand!).
It confirms my suspicion that Mount Sonora is a very wild and desolate place!
I wonder why an airstrip was built in that particular location, when there is no-one else around for many miles!
..a special, expensive Training Ground. just for the Marines?
Paul....G-BPLF... 8-)...!

It's actually a national forest, open to the public. The base itself is very small, the Marine Corps just uses the national forest land because it is perfect terrain for mountain training. We don't carry live rounds or anything like that due to all the civilians around. We encountered several hunters and campers out there while we conducted patrols and it was always entertaining seeing the look on their face when they stumbled upon one of our ambushes ;D

Yes that's the MTVR and those are M16A4 rifles with ACOG scopes.

Love the lavish accomodations there in shot #2!

Nice & cozy, and great atmosphere!

Paul, get GEP, and that desert goes away, and is replaced by what you see in these pics.

Not exactly the Hilton lol but it kept the rain and snow off our heads at night. Nothing like waking up with frost covering your sleeping bag, freezing cold all night, blazing hot all day. Yep, we are all sick as dogs now, 90% of the regiment went home with some sort of an illness. Two were medevaced with hypothermia :o I got lucky with just a sinus infection ;D

Nice group of pics! In the 3rd one I see all trigger fingers in the proper military position! Are those flash suppressors at the end of the barrels? We used them back in the day, with blanks, but I think they seemed boxier and larger then.

Not the USMC, but the special forces of the US Navy and Army. I would assume that since the Marines belong to the Squids, there could be some form of weapons-interchanging.
