Name that plane

Meant to post these quite some time back (a year almost to the day since I took them on holiday last year). I have photo touched the pictures to remove the tail number and "distinguishing marks". So for the hard core spotters out there;

1. What is it?
2. Who and why did they build it?
3. What was used to power it?
4. Where is it?

The Lake Renegade always reminds me of the Classic 1973 Film; "The Wicker Man"....>>>>

...where Police Sergeant Howie is shown Piloting the "Lake Renegade" in the fascinating opening Scene!

It's a Coot, designed by the same guy who built the Aerocar (Molt Taylor). Not sure if it's the prototype, or...?

It's different in that instead of high wings with wingtip floats, the wing roots are beefed-up to create sponsons for stability on the water without the drag of floats.

It sounds to me that Taylor did the design, but Molts built and modified that specific one.
