Yeah thats right 8-) (please excuse the blurriness my camera didn't want to cooperate and it didn't want to focus)

A few summers ago, the owner of the restaurant at N40 was also a CFI. I got a job there, in exchange for a few hours of flight time. Definitely not a bad gig, and it's where I was able to score the first few entries in my logbook, via a '72 Piper Warrior. The thing smelled like a wet dog.

I'm planning to get lessons at Prior Aviation up here in Buffalo.  Maybe for my X country a can go swing by T41

Cameras: Focus on what they want... Not what you want!


Could've been really nice photos if they came out right. Good luck working at an airport. I was thinking of trying the same if I am able to get my own transport... Can only ever help if I'm thinking of a career in aviation I suppose. Good luck finding your job!

I always had a hard time with point & shoot cameras not being able to focus very well, especially with moving aircraft.

Point and shoots are just EH with aircraft. I'm going to be getting involved at the local afb soon enough so I'm pretty excited.

I've had that happen to me, I'm not familiar with your camera, but if its has focus points, some time the aircraft are so small because of the distance, that they are from you, the focus points can't find the plane or they are not on the plane, I shut off the auto focus and just use manual, usually if its aircraft you can focus to infinity and just leave it there. Hmm. Shouldn't be doing that.
First of all make sure macro is off.
Second of all make sure you are allowing the camera to focus by pressing the shutter button half way before completely pressing it down. And also make sure the subject is in the center of view when focusing and then move it to the preferred position to keep it from focusing on, for example, the trees.

yes i do let the camera focus by pressing teh button like that, and the trees must be the problem, thank for the help guys!  8-)

Try next time focousing on something still in the distance then on the planes.

No, seriously, read it. There might be a way to set the center of the viewfinder as focuspoint (at least that was the case with my Panasonic FZ5). Using the standard setup means that the camera chooses a point for you, usually something big and easy! Setting it op so the center area is used to focus gives you better control of the situation.

These bridges have slow AF systems, yet you still can make nice photo's with them if you follow the rules... and practice... and practice some more. I used to go down to my local field and Brussels airport with it, getting good results.
