This shows why we are re-covering the 2-33 fuselage... this is the inside face of some of the old fabric. It's the bottom and sides of the area at the tail. aside from the myriad patches, etc. There was a lot of dirt built up all along the bottom. We will be fixing things so that the glider drains better in the future, should b a long time before it looks this bad again.
Just about done painting all the various sheet-metal parts- yesterday I got a good coat of epoxy primer on the door and some fairings, and all the aluminum floorboards, etc. are already done. Not perfect, but they will all look 100% better.
Still waiting to get the (steel) elevator frame repaired, but meanwhile we still have to sandblast and paint the horizontal stab (also steel). Had to abort yesterday because the "black magic" sand had been re-used too may times, and it was going too slowly. JP will get a fresh bag and we'll bang that out early next week.
We've also re-installed just about everything that we won't be able to get to after the new fabric goes on... here we see the back-seater's towhook release (with a gorgeous new paint job on the knob), and the main parts of the aileron/elevator controls.
