Thursday's Ride

I had the day off today, and since it is absolutely gorgeous outside, I wanted to go out for a ride. I've never been up to the Mt. Spokane area, so I chucked my point&shoot camera under the seat and zipped away.... ;D

No airplanes or spectacular mountain scenery like Ken was exploring, but I would have to go a little further for that... ;)

I encountered some windy roads which were fun, but the higher I got, the more loose sand there was on the roads, so extreme caution was needed, especially around the corners.

Mt. Spokane ski lodge. Pretty useless when there is little to no snow... ;D

This is as high as I went, as the road turned into gravel and I didn't feel like riding in that. Maybe one day i'll take my car up there and do some more exploring

Rode a total of 61 miles/98 km today. I've never rode that far at one time, so I could sure feel it in my legs and wrists for a little while.

But otherwise, I'm really enjoying the bike, especially when I go to fuel it up. I filled it up the other day, and my average fuel mileage for that tank was 52.7 mpg... :o 8-)

A great day (and place!) to be out on a bike.  8-)

As for the ski center: in the summertime, some people go "cubing" on slopes- get some large blocks of ice and try to ride them down the grassy hill.  :D

Glad to see you're a safe rider and actually enjoy the ride.  Spectacular scenery, perfect for a bike ride, makes me yearn for my future bike even more!

Nice, Andrew.....keep at it........you'll get some duration soon enough.....
Just this evening, Wendy and I went for a trip up our local hill, met with some friends on their bikes, saw a bear and a deer on the mountain too, and all in all, a pleasant end of the day with about 100km(60 miles or so) covered between 7:00 and 9:30pm.......can you believe it, we got to within 30 ft of the bear and the only camera between 4 of us was a cel-phone cam......not impressed with ourselves at all !

I'm still a relatively new rider, so i'm trying to be as safe as I can.

I did have two deer run out in front of me today, but luckily they were a good 30 meters in front of me, and I was driving fairly slow at that point.

I don't envy you.... ;)

I've lived around mountains my whole life, and I hate it when I can't see mountains on the skyline from where I live.

You just can't beat hiking up to a peak to relax and enjoy the scenery around you... 8-)
