If you are, could you fulfill a request for some pictures for me?

Is this a time critical thing?

Not particularly.  I was just hoping for some pictures of the R613K Mystery Ship while someone was there.  The cockpit and panel are of main importance, but anything would be nice...

I usually go to the Biggin Hill Air Fair in June. Not sure about this year. Depends on the weather among other things. The Vulcan will be the big attraction. Not sure if we will see that Mystery Ship unless they put it on display. The hangars are on the other side of the runway from the spectator area.

Yeah, I was thinking it was finished by now.  I've been going back and forth with a guy from PBS who is doing a documentary on Pancho Barnes and he said they sent him a picture with the stipulation it not be shown publicly.  I wonder why they're being so secretive about it.  Whenever I've gone to an air museum in the US, they're usually bragging about what's in the restoration hanger...  :)

Biggin Hill is not exactly an air museum. I believe the Mystery Ship was being restored by Shipping & Airlines which is a private company.

Which explains why I haven't been able to find much on the web about it...  :)

You wouldn't have a link for them would you Doug?

Trawling the web:

I'm the PR. person for the restoration of the Travel Air R614K or better know as the mystery ship. It as just come to light that its sister ship R613K is in the UK. I would like to know if anyone knows its location. The only information I have.
UK-Reg. G-AAOK
with Shipping and Airlines Ltd.
Last USA-Reg. N370N

...G-AAOK is the Travel Air biplane linked above, is owned by S&A, and not the Mystery Ship - so the restoration is very much complete! There appears to have been some crossed wires somewhere.

Ah, I missed your link. I saw the Travel Air at Abingdon where that photo was taken.

Seems the whereabouts of that Mystery Ship (if it exists) remains a mystery.

I'll see if I can find the FlyPast mag mentioned in the quote above. It sounds like the May or June 2001 issue - which should be in the house rather than in store in the garage. If that has a photo of the restoration in progress, then it should clear up whether the Mystery Ship was/is at Biggin, or whether a mis-labelling of the Travel Air biplane has provided the wrong end of the stick.

I think my friend at PBS and Doug are probably correct.
