Spring Air Display

Old Warden, Sunday 3rd May. I'd been looking forward to this for months. Shame about the strong gusty wind & hazy cloud cover but at least it didn't rain.

Conditions weren't suitable for some of the older aircraft but I finally got to see the Blackburn B2 primary trainer in the air. This is the sole survivor of 42 that were built. It looks a treat & if things had been different it might have been as famous as the legendary Tiger Moth.

Some old favourites. The Lysander for Flying Trucker.

The Gloster Gladiator.

The Sea Hurricane.

Typically the sun broke through after the show when most people had left for home. I believe this is one of the residents of the new hangar. Taking off for an aerobatic sortie.

Peter Teichman departs in his P-40 after his usual brilliant display. I rather like the weathered paint job.

Shame it's living in the new hangar really. It'd be nice to see it on the other side. :)

You've made the best of the light with these Doug. At least we got a little sun during the display....although I can't figure out how come the sun seems to follow PT around, he always seems to get a break in the clouds  :)

I think I've still got one or two Brownie No2 Cameras, (my old Dad's), knocking around amongst the rest of my "stuff"!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I'm just a picture taker. You only get to see my better efforts. It's a long time since I took any aircraft photos & I'm a tad rusty. I took literally hundreds of photos at three different events over the weekend & learned a lot about the limitations of my camera, lens & myself. I hope to do better next time.

Absolutely wonderful shots Doug! Makes me long for the airshow season again, though one more event has been cancelled here in Belgium. BUT... we get the Vulcan at Sanicole if everything goes well...

The Blackburn, Gladiator and ever splendid Hurricane look amazing! Well done!
