Not-so-classic Mustang: "My Little Pony"

So... the Tracker's engine's been ailing, and I don't have the resources to figure out and correct what's wrong with it... and it needs new shocks, horn doesn't work, new heater core is leaking, etc...so the question became "Do I send it back in for a lot of expensive repairs, or do I see if my pal Stevie Z. was serious when he said he'd sell me his car on a "pay when you can" basis (and at a sweet price)?"

Well, turns out he was serious, and since it's still reg'd and insured, I've been driving it the last few days, and I think I'm gonna go for it. ;D

1990 5.0 Mustang LX. About 110K on it, but doing very nicely. Body's scuffed and dinged, with horrific UV damage, but it's a southern car, very little rust. Tires are almost new. I have the hubcaps, but parked out in the open in Newark, they will vanish in a heartbeat. I am going to spruce it up a bit, but because of the perils of street parking and not liking to draw the attention of state troopers, it will never be all flashy.

After the wash and before the wax, some polishing compound and elbow grease will do a lot to bring back the shine. Just be careful driving, it's a muscle car and has some power, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I drive an '01 Z28 Camaro with a 6 speed.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Great purchase Sean, the 5.0 is a terrific engine, with the right parts you can get a LOT of HP out out of that block

I love how 225bhp from 5 litres counts as a performance engine  ;)

Not my cuppa tea, but it serves a purpose.  Maybe with a bit of a clean I might change my mind.   :)

One of the first speed records was set by pretty much a litre engine getting 2/3 of a single horse power.

It's true that as is, especially after I put the smog pump back on (  :'(  ), it's not capable of its true potential.
I don't think I will go that route, though... can't afford to start dabbling in that sort of thing, much as I'd like to. I'll just get it legal for NJ, clean it up a bit, and make sure it's set up to  go where I'm pointing it when I want to open it up.  With the stock rear end it has now, it would be pretty useless with the engine upgraded, anyway.

It's just a good deal at the right time, and a lot more power than I'm used to. I'm impressed with it, and that's good enough for me.  ;) ;D

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
