Man, man, man, these shots ROCK! The action freezed perfectly, nice compo's. Fantastic stuff...
Tell me, do you shoot for a paper? or webzine? or just for fun?
Still using the 300 L prime for this? I've recently bought a 70-200 f2.8 L and I'd love to take it to some sport events, but I'm afraid I'd lack the reach I need...

Kris, they're a mixture of 300 f4L and 80-200 f2.8L. 200mm is more than enough if you're just visitng a park game like this.
In terms of where my Sunday League images go, they're taken for the League. At the moment my shots are used free of charge as I build up a decent collection. However I am a registered photographer in the Conference North (hence my Blyth Spartans pics) so when I decide to start making the step up I'll be ready.

I hope you had a 2.8 to hand. I've covered some floodlit games at Blyth Spartans recently and even at f2.8 and using 1600 ISO (results are on the Flickr account linked in my sig) the speeds barely push 1/180th. It can still be done, but it requires a lot of patience and effort.
Daytime shooting has it's own challenges, but it's certainly preferable (although I'm still happy to cover mid-week games all the same).

Well, don't buy sigma is a tad overdone. I loved my 70-200 f2.8, though I have to agree she gets blown out of the water by my L-lens at f2.8...
But I'd still recommend her if the budget is a concern...

You'd understand the strength of my dislike if you saw the quality it turned out on some simple Tornado shots (no, I don't still have them, naturally)...
