Went fishing this morning, caught this very ugly fish. Those spines are very sharp and have poison in them. I was unfortunate to be stung by one on the finger, my whole hand and forearm puffed up and went purple. very agonising

I had a little laugh at that because at first i thought 2nm ... he was fishing 2 nano metres off freemantle harbour? thats sorta odd

Did you at least cook this poisonous chippy? Caught one years ago - not much fish to eat but very delicious!

nah i threw the little bastard back. took two of us to get the hook out.

So what's the story behind those funnel web shots?  How did you capture them?  Such a deadly spider, I have been fascinated by them since I was in high school.  They're so aggressive!  They will actually chase you  :o  You got some bawls getting that close her  :o

Ok i admit, there was glass between me and the spider. Decided to play with the super macro setting on my little camera. Hence why its a little bright in the corners.

First time i had been that close to one, i was impressed by the size of the fangs. theyre about a cm long or so. Seeing them makes me think of arachnophobia, with the first guy that got bitten in his bunk.

I read they can puncture a toenail with those fangs  :o

mate, i was crouching 10cm away from it, and i was getting a great look at those fangs. i reckon there could be some truth to that
