Trivia point that someone may be able to answer (I can't)...


Obviously us Brits know the NA T-6 family as the Harvard in UK service. The USAAF called it the Texan in it's T-6 guise, but did the USN also officially call their SNJ (as shown in Mic's shot above) the Texan too, or was it simply known as the SNJ?

I believe the USN version was known as the SNJ. Although it's in USN markings this one (G-TEXN) is actually an AT-6G Texan currently operated by the Real Flying Co at Shoreham. I found a detailed history of G-TEXN including the development history of the type. http://www.thunderprop.co.uk/T6.htm

G-BHTH and the mention of a landing crash rang a bell. Very conveniently (for business) they don't mention it as fatal. Mind you, there are a fair few historic airframes which have been involved in fatal accidents flying nowadays (including at least one Spit, and two more under rebuild).

Uneasy ethical situation? I'm not too sure.

I think that Cirrus is on the wrong side of the pond.

There's a lot of FAA registered aircraft in the UK now. I think it has something to do with cheaper maintenance.
