My Salt Water Fish...

Postby Fly2e » Thu Feb 26, 2009 8:13 am

Thought I would share a few shots of my salt water fish tank again. The fish are doing really well! I finally created a very stable environment for them. I found that if I keep fish of the same species, they remain very healthy and have no signs of stress. Stress is what kills these delicate fish. Iche is the most common disease and is triggered if the salt water fish are stressed. What I mean by stressed is having a fish in the tank that is aggressive or having the 5 levels of chemical off by a few degrees. Anyway, the Clown fish have been doing really well, Especially the Maroon Clown. I have had him for 2 years and the 2 orange clowns for 1 year. I have actually seen them grow. It is hard to get a clear shot of them as they are always moving but here are a few.

A salt setup... you're a better man than I, Gunga Din... ;D

Fresh-water tanks definitely allow more stress- my little cichlid tank was a constant war zone, and those little guys thrived. Real easy to maintain, too. Throw a bottom-feeder in there and there isn't much to do, really.

It's worth the effort, though- salt water tanks are cool. Very colorful fish. I know the clownfish, but what is that little guy near the bottom of the last pic? some kind of wrasse?

My parents took over my 55Gal when I left the nest and turned it into a salt tank, they are very nice but very delicate!  Yours looks terrific!
