Very nice! I would try, but it's cloudy, and I don't have a tripod yet

And it takes a real man with cojones to go out looking for roadside bombs, so what are you saying...? ;D

And just how long can you hold your camera completely steady with the shutter open...? Maybe it's my nerves, but I start shaking after a few seconds... ;)

I found a tripod on craigslist for $10 tonight :D

I was out in the field this past week, training my reservists, and the moon came up over Mount Diablo and the haze was perfect with the sunset, creating a purple/pink shade with a bright orange full moon rising through it.  It was awesome!  But, I was busy playing Marine so I couldn't get any shots.

This shot is well done, very detailed!

I sure wouldn't haul around anything more than a compact camera in the field.

I did bring the DSLR out, I have a terrific case for it so I do take it to the field, but I only carry it around if I am strictly going to be shooting pics, not instructing troops or running obstacle courses, and at the time I was running my troops through a Combat Fitness Course so all I could do was admire the scenery in between motivational butt chewings...

For the last-second action shots I do have a great point and shoot that has been around the world three times with a tour in Iraq, so I don't mind banging that one around a bit as it has proved it is capable of handling a war zone  Grin

But I didn't bring it... sure wish I caught that moon-rise though, it might have competed with this shot!!   8-)

Well, there is proof, the Army Engineers have it much tougher than the Marines.
