How long does a de-ice treatment last? (As in, how long before another treatment must be given to the aircraft?)
That is like the question, how long is a piece of string. It all depends on the mix that the pilot requests and the temperature. These two factors then produce a table called the "hold over time". This table then tells the pilot how long he has between application and then takeoff. Below is an example.

Do you have the honour of doing the spraying part from time to time... must be a cold job!
I have done it for one winter before the regulations where changed at a different company. It actually involves a day in front of an overhead projector (death by view foil ) and a written exam. Good news, in EDLP, the baggage guys do it
